HDcctv and Casino Surveillance
There are a number of potential uses for HDcctv in a casino situation. The first and most useful application would be on table games; especially house-banked poker-based games where the suit of cards has a bearing on the outcome of the game. Even under ideal conditions, standard resolution analog cameras are not capable of seeing the suits of cards on a table unless zoomed in to less than the entire playing surface.
A single HD or megapixel camera would allow us to see the suits of the cards and identify the number and value of chips in each bet. 1080 HD would likely also allow us to zoom in close enough to see evidence of marking without losing our view of the entire table like would happen if a PTZ camera is utilized.
Other areas that would benefit from HD or megapixel cameras are:
* Cash handling and counting areas.
* Wide-area progressive slot machines, where we must see the reels, bill accepter and jackpot by regulation.
* Area overviews - we could see more with less cameras.
The main concerns we have are the distance and signal transport limitations of the current spec. The requirement for repeaters beyond 100 meters of RG-59 and the apparent inability to use our analog twisted-pair transport system are two major issues.
That's what i like about hotel and casino's surveillance. High technology and state of the art security systems.
