DENISON, Texas—While thus far most talk of HDCCTV has been theoretical, systems integrator Gnisec, based here, has been doing some of the first installations of HDCCTV equipment manufactured by SG Digital. The equipment is in a McDonald’s franchise in nearby Sherman, Texas, and Saks Fifth Avenue has installed a test system in its New York City location.

SYDNEY, Australia—The HDCCTV Alliance, a security industry consortium based here that manages and promotes technical standards for HDCCTV equipment interoperability, announced in January the ratification of version 1.0 of the HDCCTV Specification. Alliance members are already introducing HDCCTV-compliant products, which provide the equivalent of one- and two-megapixel video surveillance footage via coax cable and traditional CCTV infrastructure without having to transmit video using IP protocol.

The HDcctv Alliance reportedly is close to announcing formal approval of Version 1.0 of its standard for transmitting 780p and 1080p video signals uncompressed and unpacketized over coaxial or twisted pair, HDcctv is being positioned as an alternative to IP megapixel cameras in that it can offer users with a large amount of analog equipment and cabling infrastructure an economical path to HD resolution.
